The ECG Group assisted the Middle Country UFSD to reduce energy costs by implementing a wide range of energy efficiency upgrades.
The goals of this project were to improve energy efficiency, increase the reliability of the District’s mechanical systems, and the large scale deployment of Solar Photovoltaic (Solar PV) generation across the District’s roof tops.
The final project featured comprehensive interior/exterior LED Lighting upgrades, elimination of pneumatic temperature controls, boiler replacements, chiller replacements, and Solar PV.
In total, the District will install nearly 4 Megawatts (MW) of Solar PV. In order to achieve this installed capacity, ECG evaluated various strategies and the design team ultimately settled on the utilization of a ballast-mounted approach on the flat, rubber membrane-type roofs.
