LONG BEACH, NY

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Through the implementation of this project, Long Beach Public Schools will enjoy the benefits of 12 unique energy conservation measures (ECMs). This scope includes comprehensive interior/exterior LED Lighting upgrades, boiler burner controls, kitchen hood controls, walk-in freezer/cooler controls, building envelope improvements, pipe insulation, steam traps, and computer load management software, roof upgrades, roof mounted Solar Photovoltaic (Solar PV) capacity, Cogeneration, and the upgrade of the district-wide building management system. Before this project, the District had various control systems at various buildings that were very difficult to monitor, utilize, and maintain. After the project is complete, the District will enjoy a single platform to troubleshoot and control the buildings’ temperature settings to increase student and occupant comfort.

HIGHLIGHTS

Roof Replacements at the High School and the West Elementary School

From the earliest discussions between Energia and Long Beach Public Schools, the goal of this project was to replace the leaking roofs at the Long Beach High School and the West Elementary School. Energia assisted the District to develop an RFP to solicit Energy Services Companies (ESCOs) to submit EPC proposals focusing on the replacement of these roofs. Through this process, the District received 6 proposals from competing ESCOs. Energia conducted detailed technical and financial evaluations of each proposal to assist the District with selecting their EPC partner for the project.
